چکیده
In this paper, the finite square well and its application are investigated, namely quantum state discrimination. The is treated in all standard textbooks on introductory mechanics. It used as a simple 'model of departure' many areas physics. atomic molecular physics, it may be model an electron moving mean field linear molecule also arises partial wave radial equation for spherically symmetric, square-well potential. متن کاملQuantum state discrimination
It is a fundamental consequence of the superposition principle for quantum states that there must exist non-orthogonal states, that is states that, although different, have a non-zero overlap. This finite overlap means that there is no way of determining with certainty in which of two such states a given physical system has been prepared. We review the various strategies that have been devised ...
متن کاملThe discretized Schroedinger equation for the finite square well and its relationship to solid-state physics
The discretized Schrödinger equation is most often used to solve onedimensional quantum mechanics problems numerically. While it has been recognized for some time that this equation is equivalent to a simple tightbinding model and that the discretization imposes an underlying bandstructure unlike free-space quantum mechanics on the problem, the physical implications of this equivalence largely ...
متن کاملQuantum Finite State Transducers
We introduce quantum finite state transducers (qfst), and study the class of relations which they compute. It turns out that they share many features with probabilistic finite state transducers, especially regarding undecidability of emptiness (at least for low probability of success). However, like their ‘little brothers’, the quantum finite automata, the power of qfst is incomparable to that ...
متن کاملDimension witnesses and quantum state discrimination.
Dimension witnesses allow one to test the dimension of an unknown physical system in a device-independent manner, that is, without placing assumptions about the functioning of the devices used in the experiment. Here we present simple and general dimension witnesses for quantum systems of arbitrary Hilbert space dimension. Our approach is deeply connected to the problem of quantum state discrim...
